BIO

James Abbit (born 1993, Kendal, England) is a contemporary painter based in Cumbria, England. Working primarily in oil on wood or linen, his practice is anchored in art history while engaging with contemporary themes. He is best known for contemplative representational works.

His subject matter spans still life, portraiture, and the surreal, often unified by a pursuit of beauty and quiet reflection. Characterized by a sensitivity to light and atmosphere, his paintings create a balance between observation and imagination. Among his projects are series that investigate the interplay between memory, perception, and the ephemeral qualities of the everyday.
